Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

Skagit Valley Tulip Festival logo

For 25 years the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival has been delighted to welcome visitors from around the world to enjoy the brilliant colors of spring as hundreds of acres of tulips burst into bloom in a veritable rainbow of colors. Throughout the Skagit Valley Tulip fields are located southwest of Mount Vernon in a 15-mile radius. Between 400 and 700 acres of bulbs are planted and people journey via car, tour motor coach, and boat (The Victoria Clipper) to see the flowers in bloom. Annually 300,000 to 400,000 visitors flock to Skagit Valley and enjoy the sights and sounds of small-town America as they take in festival activities in the towns of Mount Vernon, La Conner, Sedro-Woolley, Burlington and Anacortes.

The Skagit Valley boasts fertile farmland, a temperate climate, and reliable annual rainfall. Latitude and the location to the ocean keep temperatures and humidity levels just right. This combination makes growing bulbs and their flowers a natural fit for the region. The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival showcases the two tulip bulb growers that are complimented by other local farmers and the surrounding agriculture community.

RoozenGaarde: A Division of Washington Bulb Co., Inc.

  • RoozenGaarde was established in 1985 by the Roozen family and Washington Bulb Company, Inc. The Roozen family business of growing Tulips, Daffodils and Irises is the largest in the world, covering Skagit Valley with more than 1200 acres of field blooms and 15 acres of greenhouses.
  • Each fall, the 3 acre show garden is planted with over two hundred thousand spring-flowering bulbs, providing a gorgeous display of color during the early weeks of spring. Roozengaarde is an official Sponsor of the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. We welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors, from all over the country and from around the world, to our garden and store during the festival. Thousands of full-color bulb catalogs are distributed each year. Bulbs are shipped each fall to thousands of homes across the United States and Canada. Fresh-cut flowers are available for purchase or for shipment anywhere in the United States year-round. All of our bulbs and flowers are purchased directly from Washington Bulb Co., Inc.

Skagit Valley Bulb Farm / Tulip Town

  • Anthony DeGoede, owner of the Skagit Valley Bulb Farm, immigrated from Holland to Canada in 1956, then moved to Mount Vernon in 1957 where he joined his brothers Henry and John. Anthony also helped his oldest brother Henry establish Chuckanut Show Gardens. He managed the Neal Noorlag Bulb Farm until 1983, then purchased his business which now is known as 'Lil Tulip Town which he started twenty years ago. The family operates their bulb farm together. Their goal is to keep this farm in good agricultural production, which includes beautiful apple tree hedging which serve as car dividers. Excellent landscaping techniques are featured throughout the farm, with nursery trees, annuals and perennials. The DeGoede family is striving to always maintain top quality products and keep the farm a strong agricultural statement. The very first tulip grower started next to their farm. All the equipment in borders are the first and original used to harvest and plant bulbs here in the valley. When you visit 'Lil Tulip Town, you'll meet many local businesses and worthwhile charities, Children's Hospital and Boys & Girls Club.

Tulip fans find that there is truly something for everybody as they poke around and explore the Skagit Valley. Visit the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival website at www.tulipfestival.org for more details.
